Sustainability at Blätterwerk

In every procurement step, I try to avoid packaging as much as possible. Where it cannot be avoided, I reuse the packaging material that arises. This is actually also the core of my label Blätterwerk: I use wrapping paper, tissue paper, and discarded documents in the production of my hand-bound journals. This way, waste paper becomes a special tactile experience and gets a second life. Often, I use packaging material from the household, such as cardboard from cereal boxes, used shipping bags, or tissue box containers as the basis for creating a new journal. I also like to use wrapping paper to make collage papers by painting or stamping on it.

What does this mark mean?

This mark shows that, for the German market, we participate in the extended producer responsibility (EPR) scheme operated by "Der Grüne Punkt – Duales System Deutschland GmbH." This fulfils our legal obligation under Section 7 of Germany's Packaging Act Implementation Act (Verpackungsrecht-Durchführungsgesetz, VerpackDG), which implements Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste: producers who first place on the German market packaging that typically ends up as household waste must participate in an EPR scheme for that packaging.

The fees we pay for this purpose help finance the collection and recycling of household packaging waste, which Der Grüne Punkt organises nationwide as one of the EPR schemes licensed in Germany.

This mark shows through which scheme we fulfil this legal obligation under German law.
